About US

The men who write the fortune of the corporate world also write for us. For instance, The Smart Manager has articles written by eminent business leaders such as B M Munjal, Deepak Parekh, K V Kamath, Naresh Goyal, Rahul Bajaj, Sunil Mittal and Uday Kotak. In addition the magazine regularly publishes the latest in management thinking in conjunction with leading management thinkers and b-schools.

The Smart Manager was launched in 2002 by Dr. Gita Piramal with the mission of updating managers and business practitioners in India with the latest thought provoking strategic ideas from experienced world class managers, academics and consultants from across the globe, ideas which are useful, well-researched and actionable, enabling the reader to produce results in an era of transition and disruptive technologies.

The magazine aims to present implementable ideas for the world class professional. Managers are the best teachers of managers, and The Smart Manager aims to capture insights from their experiences. The ‘Smart’ in The Smart Manager is an acronym for Strategy, Marketing, Analysis, Resources and Technology. Truly useful knowledge when you need it 24 x 365. Year after year.

Over the years, The Smart Manager has been privileged to carry articles authored by illustrious management gurus such as CK Prahalad, Gary Hamel, Jagdish Seth, Lynda Gratton, Nirmalya Kumar, Nitin Nohria and the late Sumantra Ghoshal. The magazine also endeavors to live up to its credo of “managers are the best teachers of managers” by featuring articles on or authored by leading business persons from across the globe.

The Smart Manager has a circulation of 65,000 copies. The readership, however, goes beyond the magazine norm of 4 or 4.5 per copy since the magazine is heavily read by b-school faculty and students, as well as executives through library subscriptions. We estimate the readership to be over 300,000 copies (excluding readers who may be accessing our articles online through www.thesmartmanager.com).
