Yunus decided to do something to help at least a few people. The prospect of providing “small-scale yet real help, not just a theory” energized him. So along with a colleague, Professor Latifee, Yunus began to visit homes in the nearby village to understand their conditions in detail. Yunus’s subsequent encounter there with Sufia Begum, now the stuff of legend, changed his life and that of millions across the world. In doing this Yunus overturned the view, or prejudice, that profit is the most powerful motivation to drive innovation.
